What we actually do
Most of the week is preparation. The colour is the last, and shortest, part of the job.
Interior decorating
Walls, ceilings and woodwork. We fill, sand and prime before any colour goes on. Two finish coats as standard.
Exterior decoration
Facades, joinery, railings and front doors. We work to the weather, not through it, and we say so if a week is too damp.
Wallpaper hanging
Lining paper where the walls need it. Pattern matched, seams tight, paste cleaned off the woodwork before it dries.
Woodwork and joinery
Doors, sash windows, skirting and stairs. Degreased, filled, and finished in eggshell or gloss that actually levels.
Period and listed homes
Breathable paints where the building needs them. We do not trap moisture in lime plaster for the sake of a modern finish.
Colour, decided in the room
Sample boards left with you for a few days. North light lies. Better to live with a colour than commit a whole landing to it.
On every job
- Dust sheets, masking, and furniture shifted within the room
- Fills, caulk, sanding, and primer where the surface needs it
- Two finish coats
- A tidy at the end of each day, and a walk-through before we leave
Priced separately, or not at all
- Other trades. We do not supply or arrange plasterers, electricians or any other tradesmen
- Plastering, electrics and damp treatment — those stay with you
- Spraying an occupied house
Selected work
Houses, not show homes
A sample of the finish. Preparation, colour and woodwork, the way the rooms were left. Ask for a fuller set, and for references, when we visit.
Guide price
A figure before the visit
Guide rates for the North West, including VAT. Count every space you want done — bedrooms, receptions, kitchen, hall, landing. The band leaves room for ceiling height and whatever is under the old paint. A written quote after a visit replaces this.

How a job runs
Four steps, and then we are out of the house
01
Visit
We measure, look at what is under the old paint, and talk about colour in the light of the room. The visit is free across the North West and surrounding areas.
02
Quote
Written and itemised. The figure you accept is the figure we invoice, unless the walls are hiding something we could not see.
03
Prepare
This is most of the job. Dust sheets, fills, sanding, caulk, stain block, primer. If we are in the house all week, you should still be able to use the stairs in the evening.
04
Finish
Two coats. Woodwork last, once the walls are done. We walk the rooms with you before we pack the van.

Colour
Decided in daylight
These are colours we keep coming back to. None of them are a brand you have to buy — we specify an equivalent in a paint that suits the room, and we leave a sample with you first.

Mill Green
Durable matt on the walls, eggshell on the woodwork.
